Raise Resilience Dacorum Parents - Bounce Forward

Raise Resilience Dacorum Parents

Helping children develop resilience is more important than ever! e Live Lesson

We have a unique moment in time, when all children are facing change and challenge, to teach resilience in a lasting way. Supporting our children through and beyond the pandemic is an opportunity to really show them how to deal with uncertainty. First, you need to make sure you understand your own resilience to make sure you can help yourself and your children to bounce forward in the best way possible. We are here to help you!

To date, Raise Resilience has supported over 3,500 parents, up and down the country. So many of you told us how useful, practical and worthwhile the course was.

I have to say that I think this course is terrific! Really useful from a parenting perspective of two very different children (one neuro typical and one ASD), and also hugely helpful from an individual perspective too!! I would love to see this course rolled out in my children’s respective schools as it would be so useful in an educational setting too.

I like how we were able to get involved via the Zoom chat. I attended something (from a different provider) that had a similar title last year, which turned out to be a crowded seminar with no input from attendees. I also like the weekly downloads of materials to work through. It really helps cement what we have learned and helps with teaching some aspects of the course to our children.

Join six 1-hour sessions to build personal resilience, how to look after yourself, build self-awareness about what might be getting in the way, help you notice what is going well and your strengths as a parent. Each week you will receive learning materials to use with your children at home to help structure the way you build resilience in your children.

What parents say

Course Overview

Session 1: Introduction to resilient parenting

What is resilience. The ages and stages for developing resilience in our children. How the brain works and the importance of negative and positive emotions.

Session 2: Optimism during uncertainty

This session explores the link between what we think, how we feel, and how we behave. Flexible and realistic thinking lies at the heart of resilience, it enables us to do the ‘right’ thing at the right time, so we achieve the best possible outcome. Optimism wedded to reality.

Session 3: Developing the mental muscle

Helping our children gain more control over how they feel and behave. Reframing unhelpful choices, and developing empathy for self and others, so we can navigate uncertainty and learn to fail well.

Session 4: Compassionate communication

Effective communication is essential as our children move into adolescence. We can find ourselves in cycles of nagging and bickering and focusing on the ‘big’ conversations, and with it, we become disconnected. Resilience and compassion are the keys to staying connected.

Session 5: Mindsets and Energy

Nurturing and developing a growth mindset in our children. Understanding the psychological link between energy, emotions and behaviour.

Session 6: Parenting to strengths

Identifying the unique strengths of our children and us – and how to use them to best effect.
